a prayer

my buddy Ty has a prayer on his blog that's worth reading. it's also inspired me to post a prayer here on what i'm now calling, the desolate blog of depression...i think it has a good ring to it.
anyways, singing old hymns in the church is a rich tradition that has stood the test of time. but, you don't see a lot of prayers (non-scripture) being used at all. that's what makes this one pretty unique. it's the prayer of St. Francis, a 13th century saint of Assisi. i want this to be my prayer every day...peep it:
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
